AboutĀ me

Hi, I’m Teik. I'm a Chartered Accountant and Management Consultant, excited to start working with you.

I am a Chartered Accountant, qualified since 1979 in both Australia and the United Kingdom. I have worked as a Management Consultant since 1985 for international consulting companies, as well as in my own consulting business. I have worked with large and small businesses, Not-for-profit organisations, Community-controlled organisations and Indigenous enterprises and corporations for over 40 years to improve their ability to be the best they can be.

My experience has been gained with clients in the United Kingdom, the United States, Southeast Asia and Australia. While specialising in strategic consulting - vision and culture development, strategic and business planning, corporate structuring and culture change, my experience as a financial accountant has been instrumental in my ability to provide practical commercial advice alongside strategic considerations.

Since 1987, I have also been uniquely involved in advising Indigenous corporations and Prescribed Bodies Corporate, Indigenous agencies of various states and the Federal government, and Not-for-profit organisations. This has been personally rewarding as well as critical experience in understanding the needs of community-controlled organisations, social enterprises and small-medium businesses.

My Methods

Find the key to the big picture and let that lead the way to success.

My method for working with clients at a strategic level is simple - let me uncover your "why", the real definition of your vision statement and purpose.

I will work with you to define your Vision - that framed picture on your wall - and through analysis of three or four critical success factors unique to what you want to achieve, pragmatically define what your organisation will look like, act like and achieve "once you have attained your vision".

You might think this sounds mystical, but think how it would benefit your organisation if you could answer daily dilemmas like:

  • Which recruit will help us achieve our purpose?
  • Which strategy will get us to our targets sooner?
  • Will this action encourage our people to work collaboratively?
  • How can the people we work for benefit sustainably into the future?
  • Which system will help us be more efficient in meeting our targets?
  • How will our financial result balance our commitment to purpose?

Once you are clear about what success looks and feels like, then all strategy follows from it. At each step of planning, you can ask, "Will this strategy, goal, objective or action lead me to achieve those definitions of successfully attaining our vision?"Ā

On describing your long-term strategic journey, you can then break it down into clear, pragmatic milestones within shorter-term plans and activities, at each step asking: "Is this getting me closer to attaining our vision?"

This process helps you to define your resource requirements, teamwork styles, and people-and-culture strategies. You will be able to find or train the right people, get them on the same bus, and make sure they are in the right seats on that bus.

How I work with you

I work face-to-face with you and your key staff, as appropriate for the agenda, in targeted workshops.

I do not preach - I ask questions to unlock the knowledge of your own organisation - and all the answers will be yours. The key is the focus of my questions, borne of over 40 years of knowing what works and what "lies underneath".
